BH Cosmetics: Blacklight Highlight Palette Review And Swatches

The BH Cosmetics Blacklight Highlight Palette is a six color highlighter palette that features iridescent, and pearly pastel highlighters that help you achieve the trendy ethereal glow.

Thoughts:

I'm obsessed with colored highlighters especially the ones that give you a beautiful ethereal or #unicornglow. If you're following the makeup trends on Instagram then you know that unicorn highlighters are a hot trend. I wanted to achieve the unicorn glow trend, but let's face it I'm on a budget, and I have to spend my money wisely. So, when BH Cosmetics announced their newest highlighter palettes read more about that here, I knew I had to add it to my collection.

BH Cosmetics featured two new highlighter palettes, the Spotlight, and Blacklight palettes. Blacklight was the palette I had my eye on before it released. Like I mentioned I'm all about that #unicornglow. Let's talk about the packaging, the Blacklight Highlight palette comes nicely packaged with a slip stock cover instead of a box. It's housed in a sleek black six pan hard cardboard that includes a mirror.

Moving on to the actual highlighters, they are beautiful. Each shade has a name similar to Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits. I love the that each shade has a very smooth non-chalky texture. Plus once swatched I noticed how amazingly pigmented they are. You can use a highlighter brush, fan brush or even your fingers to apply. In my case I used a fan brush to apply on my face and used my fingers to swatch on my skin for the pictures below.

Regardless of what tools I used, each shade has a beautiful metallic look to them, and remind me of the BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes 28 Color Eye Shadow Palette review here. The formula feels similar, but only this time more creamy, and blend-able. I also wanted to mention that the Blacklight Highlight Palette doesn't have any chunky glitters, and they also don't emphasize my textured skin. I think anyone that has big pores, or texture on their skin will appreciate that fact that the highlighters melt into the skin rather than just sit there, like some other highlighters in the affordable category I own do.

Although each shade is unique and looks beautiful on its own, I really like that you can play around and mix or even layer your faves to create your own shade. On the BH Cosmetics site they mention that you can use the Blacklight Highlighter Palette wet by using their Studio Pro Makeup Setting Spray to get a more sparkly effect. I have yet to apply the highlighters wet, but I can only imagine how intense the highlighters will look. I mean look at how pigmented they are, and they were applied dry with fingers. Which shade is your favorite?

Here is more product information form the BH Cosmetics Site:

"Embrace the ethereal allure of our Blacklight Highlight 6 Color Palette, an assortment of iridescent shimmer powders that produce enchanting effects. The pearlized pastels conjure up daring, dreamy looks when applied above cheekbones, above and beneath brows, on inner eye corners, Cupid's bow, bridge of nose, shoulders, collarbone & anywhere you'd normally highlight. Apply colors individually or layer and blend to create a pigment of your imagination!"

Overall thoughts:

Beauty lovers, I don't have one bad thing to say about the BH Cosmetics Blacklight Palette. I'm so impressed by the pigmentation, smooth texture, and blend-ability. Above all the price, I mean I'm kicking myself for not buying the Spotlight palette since it only retails for $17! This is the perfect iridescent, trendy, unicorn highlighter. Anyone can get their hands on it, plus the highlighters give you a gorgeous glow perfect for special occasions and everyday. I definitely recommend not splurging on a more expensive highlighter palette, and buy this one for $17 dollars instead.
